A Great thanks to all who attended the Richmond Hill Umpiring Clinic and we trust everyone enjoyed
it.
This is just the beginning of your umpire life. We encourage you to practice your plate mechanics
daily; the more you practice and the more you will feel comfortable
at the diamond. For those 1st and 2nd year umpires, please become familiar with the Rookie and Mosquito
rules by checking the Phoenix
umpire website, http://www.geocities.com/richmondhillumpires/ and the Baseball Ontario Umpire website, http://www.baseballontario.com/umpires/ before the season opens.
We want to make you feel more comfortable and look more professional on the diamond; to help you,
we’ll have a Grass Root Clinic on May 5, Saturday at the Munshaw A Gym of Langstaff Community Centre (155 Red Maple Road)
between 9 am till Noon,
proper footwear must be brought to the clinic for these physical activities. We will be covering the practical aspects of
the game not clinic theory especially plate mechanics. If you have gear then bring in
Kirk Corkery, Umpire in Chief, assisted by Bryan Ma, Umpire Scheduler, will host this clinic and
the clinic is mandatory for Level 1 and Level 2. We’ll also hand out the umpire equipments after the clinic.
For those Level 3 umpires, please reply
if you are available to help; otherwise please come between 10:00 am to
noon for picking up the umpire gear.
You’ll find the location for Langstaff by clicking http://www.town.richmond-hill.on.ca/maps/popupmaps.asp?imgid=langstaff_CC.jpg
